New Induction Centre at Scunthorpe
The Induction Centre at Scunthorpe has been re-furbished. Entrance is still via Gate A and the opening hours remain 0700hrs to 1800hrs however, it is advised that Drivers arrive no later than 1645hrs to ensure completion of induction.
Parking bays have not yet been completed, so Drivers are advised to check with security on entry.
Site induction cards vs Driver training cards
Following on from the above, it is a good time to highlight the difference between a Site specific induction card and the P&O Driver training cards. 3 key points to remember:
1. Site specific cards can only be used for the site they relate to, i.e a Scunthorpe induction card cannot be used at Corby for instance.
2. The P&O driver training card is to demonstrate competency in our Safety Principles and that you have been trained in certain load restraint guidelines.
It is NOT a substitute for a Site induction.
3. Drivers must still undergo a Site Induction even if they have a P&O training card.
Round Oak rail – bad behaviour
We need to highlight a few bad habits that some Drivers have developed when loading out of Round Oak Rail at Brierley
Hill.
• Parking in the drive way
• Drivers taking tachometer breaks on site
• Overnight parking on waste land near to exit driveway
• Using waste land on the run up to the entrance as a Toilet area.
There are facilities which can be used inside Round Oak – Please ask to use them!
None of the above are acceptable – please instruct drivers that the above behaviours are not allowed.
